EMPORIA AREA HUNTERS ORGANIZE "HUNT FOR HUNGER” EVENT
Two-person teams needed for charitable competition
A group of Emporia hunters have organized a charitable competition to help local folks in need this Holiday Season, with hopes of making this an annual fundraiser. The event runs Dec. 7-9 and will provide wild game for the Salvation Army's various food assistance programs. Deer harvested will be donated to the Kansas Chapter of Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH). Money generated from the sale of furs will be given to Camp Alexander to help purchase equipment for their youth outdoor skills program.
Participants will hunt and trap in two-person teams for two days, and scores will be awarded based on game and fur bagged. All licenses, permits, rules, and regulations of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks apply.
Event sponsors include Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, Bluestem Farm and Ranch, Guion’s, CZ Rifles, Days Inn, Emporia Area Chapter of Quail Unlimited, Dr. Cockrell, Oak Tree Textiles, Montana Mikes, Flying J’s Restaurant, Fairfield Inn, Evco, S&S Oil and Propane, and Papa Murphy’s Pizza.
Winning teams and all those who participate in the fundraiser will be recognized and treated to a hunter's banquet where prizes and gift certificates will be awarded after scoring on Sunday, Dec. 9.
